As part of its ongoing refinery upgrading program, Rosneft has awarded an Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to Maire Tecnimont subsidiaries for construction of a Vacuum Gas Oil (VGO) Hydrocracking Complex at the Ryazan Refinery.
- The Ryazan Oil Refining Company (RORC) production site is 200km southeast of Moscow.
- The agreement is worth approximately €1.1 billion (US$1.226 billion).
- The VGO Hydrocracking Complex will have a capacity of 40,000 barrels per day.
- Vacuum Gas Oils are produced by vacuum distillation units in a refinery and used as feedstock for a hydrocracking unit, which breaks the heavy hydrocarbons into lighter products like gasoline.
- Maire Tecnimont subsidiaries Tecnimont and MT Russia will complete the work.
- Much of the work will be performed by MT Russia in its Moscow engineering centre.
- RORC is one of the largest refineries in Russia.
- RORC produces a range of petroleum products including gasoline, diesel, kerosene, road and construction bitumen, etc.
- Maire Tecnimont is an Italian group of companies providing licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction of oil and gas facilities.
